Behind the Veil
I'm like you 15 years old
but I hide my face I do what I'm told
my culture wants my beauty enclosed
But i will never hide my soul
a hidden women
is the role
so listen to my tale
hopefully I won't fail
I'm just like you
But behind a veil
I could be your mother
your sister behind the veil
get your mind straight
so we can sail
into the heart and mind
of a teenage girl
who's world's in a whirl
wondering why their feet have to be crushed
and maturity has to be rushed
so lets all pray that
the hearts of the public can be touched
I'm behind the veil.
I struggle behind the veil.
I am concealed behind the veil.
My life isn't mine behind the veil.
I want to be seen in front of the other teens behind this veil.
I want to scream behind the veil.
I am hidden and unseen behind the veil.
I'm hiding my beauty behind the veil.
My eyes are concealed behind the veil.
You stole my identity.behind the veil
SAOUSSAN'S RESPONSE to BEHIND THE VEIL.
We don't need no feelings, no hearts or tearing.
We're proud of who we are and our descendants who were leading.
Oh thee who speaks about the veil,
you didn't experience the Muslim trail.
We are the happiest of you all,
don't you hear about rape crimes?
They're mostly your women with makeup all times.
Shorts, tights and bathing suits,
The Bible never mentioned any of these roots.
Nuns are covered no body exposed,
so why hate on us, Muslims of the world.
Your women depressed because of their look, but we walk around in our modest clothes,
so accept it or not that's what we chose.
I'm definitely not bold, that's what people say.
And my feet were never crushed by the way.
I'm the young woman you see everyday, not depressed as you say.
So look at me in a different way, I'm the diamond you see in display.
Your women have boyfriends,
You wonder why we don't,
feels a bit awkward in your tone.
I know it's not your fault for not knowing Islam,
but hey the news is on demand.
Without my hijab I feel insecure,
deep within my soul I feel peace and pure,
I love my hijab which made my spirit proud,
Hijab is my pride,
it makes my soul improve.
This is my hijab, I will never remove.
Men & Women
It takes a strong man to be sensitive
It takes a wise man to understand
That muscle and brawn don't make the man
what makes a man?
It takes a strong man to be sensitive
it takes a real man to understand
That women have a say
and they have feet to stand
